Árpád Balog

Csongrad, Hungary

Grower Website

In the Hungarian southern wine region, Csongrad, near the Serbian border, Árpád Balog is cultivating some of the area's most unique natural wines. The family farm cultivates nearly all indigenous varieties, with the care for their native land at top priority. Using organic vineyard practices and strong yield restriction, they strive to produce the healthiest grapes possible. In this way, they say they allow the wines to essentially make themselves, with as minimal intervention as possible. The wines are pressed only with a roller, are native yeast fermented, un-fined, unfiltered, and have the use of no or very limited sulfur addition only at bottling.
