About the Company
Critical Mass Selections imports natural wines from Italy, France, Portugal and Spain to the East and West Coast. It has acquired a reputation as one of America’s most selective distributors of natural wines since it launched operations in 2012.
The company currently distributes directly in New York and California and works
with Neat Wines in Louisiana and 100% Italiano in Tennessee.
About the Team
Ross Bingham is the founder of the company. He is originally from North Lincolnshire in England and grew up on a four-hundred acre farm. At the age of 29, he moved to Italy and learned to cook. In 1994, Ross moved to New York, where he continued to cook professionally. In 2002 he earned a degree at the Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in Paris, which opened doors for him at Michelin-starred restaurants. In 2004, he transitioned into the wine industry and studied at the Wine & Spirit Education Trust. After graduating, Ross opened his own wine store in Brooklyn. In 2012, he decided to import natural wines into the United States and founded Critical Mass Selections.
Evija Mehra is the CFO of the company. She is originally from Latvia and holds a BA degree from Stockholm School of Economics and MSc degree from Norwegian School of Management. Evija joined Critical Mass Selections in 2014 and brought extensive experience in business development and marketing areas to the company. She has extensive corporate experience in international business and loves all the beautiful things in life.
Eleonore “Yasha” Kopera manages Communications and Investor Relations. She holds a Master’s Degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs with a focus on International Communications. Before joining Critical Mass Selections, she worked at the United Nations Department of Political Affairs, producing talking points and speeches for UN Ambassadors, the UN Secretary-General and senior UN staff. During her time at the UN, Yasha organized high-level meetings and conferences and assisted Ambassadors at bilateral negiotations. Prior to the UN, Yasha was the Managing Director at the Business Humanitarian Forum, where she led multi-million dollar development projects in Afghanistan and made presentations to donor countries, multilateral development aid agencies and at Ministerial meetings. Throughout her career, Yasha has raised substantial funding for a variety of economic development projects involving multi-stakeholder partners. She also worked on corporate governance issues, regulating business behavior in developing and post-conflict countries and is a strong believer in ethical business practices.
West Coast Sales Manager
West Coast Sales Manager Ruby Martin is a Los Angeles native with a passion for natural wine. Having worked in nearly every position in the restaurant world, she decided to move into sales to continue her education and become immersed in the world of wine. Most recently the GM and Wine Director at Baco Mercat in Los Angeles, Ruby discovered Critical Mass Selections after inheriting a few of our wines onto her list. After meeting with Ross for a tasting, she fell in love with the wines and came on board.
East Coast Sales Manager
East Coast Sales Manager Ted Levitine-Walsh, A student of wine, beer and spirits for the last 16 years or so, was previously in Los Angeles working as AGM at both Fathers Office locations while natural wine consulting for The Greyhound and ETA. After 9 years of obsession, Ted finally decided to focus predominantly on his love of natural wine. He passed levels I and II of the Court of Master Sommeliers in 2016, and went to the first NYC RAW fair. At RAW, Ted noticed the wine from Critical Mass Selections as standing out amongst their peers and eagerly decided to move east to NYC to join the Critical Mass team.
